Functions:
Warms the channels and move the qi, quickens the blood and frees the flow of the network vessels, strengthens the sinews and bones.
Indications:
For wind, damp, cold impediment conditions complicated by blood stasis.
Method of Use:
Apply liberally to the affected area 3-5 times per day.

Formula Rationale:
Chuan Wu (Radix Aconiti Carmichaeli), Cao Wu (Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffi), and Rou Gui (Cortex Cinnamomi) powerfully warm the channels and scatter cold. Sheng Jiang (uncooked Rhizoma Zingiberis) both dispels dampness and moves the qi, as does Ru Xiang (Olibanum). Hong Hua (Flos Carthami), Tao Ren (Semen Persicae), Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), and Mo Yao (Myrrha) quicken the blood and transform stasis. In addition, Mo Yao enters the network vessels where it frees the flow and stops pain. Ma Qian Zi (Semen Strychnotis) frees the flow of the network vessels, disperses swelling, and stops pain, and chronic pain is typically complicated by blood stasis having entered the network vessels. Zi Ran Tong (Pyritum) dispels stasis, knits the bones, and reconnects the sinews. Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) harmonizes all the other ingredients in the formula. By that, we mean that it moistens the skin and prevents the other, harsher ingredients in this formula from irritating or damaging the skin.
